Recognizing Early Signs of an Allergic Reaction Food allergy reactions can vary from child to child. They can also look different each time they happen. Early symptoms may include hives, itching, swelling of the lips or eyes, stomach pain, or vomiting. More serious reactions, known as anaphylaxis, can cause trouble breathing, throat tightness, dizziness, or a sudden drop in blood pressure.
